StoryMax CardsAug 30, 2014 | 7:40 am
Some of you probably noticed that I've been preoccupied with the MasterDeck cards. Other than releasing the Plot Development add-on cards (soon to be in print) for MasterBook/Shatterzone, I just finished assembling a preliminary card deck for StoryMax, the new adjective-based system now in public beta. These cards work just like MasterDeck for the most part, except they are specially tailored for StoryMax. 98 of them in all.

There are two basic types of cards: flairs and drama. Flairs are essentially MasterDeck enhancement cards. They enhance gameplay, depending on the type of scene. Flairs can be played or traded anytime during open scenes, but only from your character's pool for sequential scenes. A pool starts with no cards at the beginning of a conflict. One card from your hand is transferred to the pool upon each task attempt, so scenes can start slow and really build up excitement. I am also working on a scene-based option, where you draw a card at the start of a new scene to determine the nature of conditions or the type of conflict.

Drama cards are MasterDeck's subplot cards. They add twists to the story.

Not sure when this will be available, but I don't think it's too far off.
