Precis Intermedia has acquired the Newsies & Bootblacks property. This RPG focuses on newsboys (and shoeshine boys) around the Edwardian period (1890-1910) in a fictional city called New Paris (situated in the fictional state of the same name, somewhere between Virginia and New York).
The system is pretty simple, using multiple six-sided dice depending on attributes. There are weak dice (max value of 5) and normal dice. You spend points to allocate these dice to attributes. Then there are fool dice (max of 4) and swell dice (min of 3). You choose skills you are good at and skills you are bad at. The former upgrades the dice by one level, while the latter downgrades them by one level.
You are probably asking yourself what a newsboy does in this game. Well, it's not really about standing on a corner to sell newspapers. It's about adventure. You could be kids solving crimes, getting caught up in conspiracies, exposing corruption, or investigating reports of strange creatures. Rumors abound.
Finally, I have decided to donate all proceeds (that is, whatever is left after processing fees) of this download to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The author originally asked readers to donate to a worthy cause, but I'm being a bit more specific and direct with that goal. For those not familiar with St. Jude, they specialize in treating childhood cancers, as well as other life-threatening diseases. And St. Jude does not charge for their services.
