Heroic Dice Tricks A chance for extra steps in Iron Gauntlets
Heroic Dice Tricks represent the favor of the gods, fate, chance, or whatever other powers smile upon the player characters. Heroic Dice Tricks enable the characters to achieve success beyond their normal means.
Overkill Dice
Whenever a character achieves overkill on a task roll, the character may receive one (1) experience point instead of using the overkill to enhance the roll. This experience point is attached to the relevant skill and may be used later to add extra dice to task rolls. The director may disregard this rule if a highly-skilled character is intentionally attempting trivial or routine tasks in the hopes of gaining overkill dice.
Lucky Dice
Whenever two or more dice are rolled and ALL of the dice come up the same number, the character receives one (1) luck point (up to his maximum rating). This luck point is granted regardless of whether the roll succeeds or fails. The character can save this luck point for later or apply it to the current roll.
Hero Dice
Before making a roll (task roll, reaction roll, damage roll, etc.), the player chooses a different colored die to designate as the hero die. This is not an extra die, it is just a different color. Whenever a one (1) is rolled on the hero die, the character gains one step and rolls the hero die again. If the new roll is also a one (1), the character gains another step and again rolls the hero die. The player may keep rolling until something other than a one (1) is rolled on the hero die.
Note: Major NPC villains have Villainous Dice Tricks that work the same way.
