Back in the 70s, there wasn't just one RPG, even though one was most-popular. Many people didn't know about all the self-published and alternative games out there. Sir Pellinore's Game, originally called Sir Pellinore's Book [of Rules for a Game of Magic Mideval Adventures], was one such title. And rather than being solely inspired by the world's first and most-popular RPG, inspiration seems to have also come from the second. It is basic and gets the job done when you don't want a lot of rules to get in the way of fun. There were three editions of this self-published game.
