Legends claim that the first minotaur was a brutal, blood-thirsty general, whose name has been claimed by the mists of time. According to the legend, after senselessly slaughtering an entire village of peaceful farmers, he was cursed by the gods, and turned into a twisted, savage beast with the body of a man, and the head of a bull. The curse was passed on through his bloodline, and gave rise to this monstrous species that has survived through the ages.

Whether the legend is true or not, no man can say. But those who have faced minotaurs in the wild swear they can see a dim, almost human intelligence behind their baleful red eyes. These beasts have been known to wear armor, and use melee weapons as well, favoring battle-axes and war-picks.

Minotaurs make their lairs in abandoned crypts, caverns, and crumbling dungeons—maze like labyrinths that confuse and trap their prey. The minotaurs themselves seem to have a natural ability to navigate these complex, maze-like environs, and enjoy hunting down their lost, terrified victims.
