NWD Corporate Sponsors
Advertising opportunities for New World Disorder crews.
Contributor: Precis IntermediaCreated: May 23, 2008Modified: Jul 15, 2008System: New World Disorder

Consumerism is everything in the dismal future of New World Disorder. Corporations look for any opportunity to market their products. Between the lousy economy and over-saturation of consumer goods, every sale counts and no marketing channel is too small. This obsessive need for each company to insert its brand into the subconscious mind of every Consumer and Civvy in Angel City can be a boon to a successful crew. As the crew’s activities draw more attention from the media-manipulated public, so does its potential as a tool for the corporations’ hungry advertising departments. A savvy crew can try to take advantage of their own notoriety. All it takes is getting noticed by the bigwigs and striking a deal to promote their products—for a modest fee, of course. This promotion can come in many forms, from subliminal advertising (such as being seen drinking a certain brand of cola, wielding a certain brand of weapon exclusively, or spouting a brand tagline in front a news cam) to overt ad placement (like wearing a t-shirt with a brand logo, sporting a tattoo of a brand, or wearing corporate logos on uniforms and gear). One may wonder why a company would want to risk bad publicity by being associated with gang warfare. The answer is a simple precept as old as consumerism—in a free market society, there is no such thing as bad publicity. Winning Corporate Sponsorship
After a firefight, the winning player can choose to seek a corporate sponsor. Two dice are rolled. If the total is equal to or less than the victory points gained by the winning crew less those won by the losing crew, the winning player has earned a new sponsor. There is no limit to the number of sponsors that a crew can have. Responsibilities of Sponsorship
When a megacorporation strikes a sponsorship deal, it has very specific expectations of the crew that it supports. These expectations are outlined in the contract made when landing the sponsor. For game purposes, however, these terms are unimportant. If the player wishes, he can still outline the sponsorship contract requirements. These could be adding corporate logos to his figures or some other interesting means of displaying the crew’s deal. Players are encouraged to create their own imaginative, unique sponsor companies and brands. Rewards of Sponsorship
After each firefight, a sponsored crew must determine the payoff it receives from each of its corporate benefactors (if any). This should be done immediately after the firefight, before any other post-firefight activities. For each sponsor the crew has, the player must roll a die and consult the following table (if the crew lost the firefight, subtract 3 from the roll).
 Roll  Effect
1 or less  The sponsor, for one reason or another, is extremely unpleased and has chosen to drop the crew. The crew receives no payment and the sponsor cancels its contract.
2  The sponsor is unhappy with the exposure it received from the firefight. The crew receives a payment of 10Cr times the result of a D3 roll, but the sponsor cancels its contract.
3  The sponsor is not thrilled with the exposure it received from the firefight, but is willing to give the crew another chance. The crew receives a payment of 10Cr times the result of a D3 roll. Subtract 1 when this roll is made again for this sponsor after the next firefight.
4  The sponsor is adequately pleased by the exposure it received from the firefight. The crew receives a payment of 30Cr, plus 10Cr times the result of a D3 roll.
5  The sponsor is extremely pleased by the exposure it received from the firefight. The crew receives a payment of 10Cr times the result of a D3 roll for each member. Add 1 when this roll is made again for this sponsor after the next firefight.
6 or more  The sponsor is absolutely thrilled by the exposure it received from the firefight. The crew receives a payment of 30Cr, plus 10Cr times the result of a D3 roll for each member. Add 2 when this roll is made again for this sponsor after the next firefight.
