
Many different weapons exist throughout the Darhren Empire. Some are handcrafted while others are mass produced on factory assembly lines. Very few weapons are considered illegal, however, carrying a weapon may be restricted in some places (or some systems). The primary large-scale energy weapon manufacturers include Golune Arms, Briitech Arms, and Zarat Arms.

Melee Weapons

Apriisu Leg Spurs


Apriisu leg spurs consist of dozens of knife-like spurs that attach to an Apriisu’s legs. When an Apriisu wearing leg spurs engages in unarmed combat, the spurs provide a -2DIFF to the attack.
Benebenai Rukh Sword


A rukh sword is a finely crafted, collapsible sword that was designed using Benebenai nanite technology. Benbenai nanite technology consists of a complex system of microscopic computers that are capable of bending space to create “pocket dimensions” where matter is stored. When inactive, the sword typically appears as a ring, bracelet, or gauntlet. The sword may be activated and an attack made in the same turn at a penalty of +2DIFF. The nanites also create a contained energy field that allows the sword to parry plasma swords and plasma edge weapons without being damaged. Benebenai nanite construction is a lost art. The nanites were specifically designed to self-destruct if tampered with which makes replicating them impossible. Rukh swords (and other nanite items) are therefore extremely valuable and are normally purchased only by wealthy collectors. Many rukh swords are decorated with animals and creatures native to ancient Benebenai culture.
Nahathmoc Tagalla and Udan Geltru


The Tagalla is a curved, serrated dagger given to Nahathmoc women after they undergo a rite of passage. It is a sacred weapon that is crafted for the individual and must be buried with its owner so that she may defend herself in the afterlife. Therefore, the Nahathmoc go to great lengths to retrieve stolen Tagallas. In combat, the heavy Tagallas provide a -1DIFF to attack but +1DIFF to parry. The Udan Geltru is designed similarly to the Tagalla, except that it is a sacred sword given only to men.
Plasma Edge Weapons


Plasma edge weapons use modern plasma technology to place a plasma edge on any archaic slashing weapons. Plasma edges can cut through almost anything, even metal, however, the non-plasma portion of the blade may get entangled or damaged in the process, rendering the entire weapon unusable. A normal weapon that is used to parry a plasma edge weapon is cut in half. Plasma edge weapons can be used to parry plasma swords and other plasma edge weapons at +2diff. Golune Arms produces a diverse line of plasma edge weapons that are currently popular with the galactic underworld.
Ss’saran Claw Spike


A claw spike is a long sheath of sharp metal that is fitted onto the middle claw of a Ss’saran warrior.
Tarang


The Tarang is a broad-bladed Gorratz ritual knife that is used for formal duels. The Tarang’s blade, hilt, and/or pommel is often designed with a fire motif. Tarangs are sometimes coated with poison, and the blade contains layered grooves that enable the poison to be effective for 1d6 strikes before wearing off.
Traru


Traru are quarterstaffs or cudgels trimmed from the sacred Trar located in Zuul Control on planet Darhren. The Trar’s branches can be trimmed only by those with psionic empathy. Traru staves are energy resistant and nearly indestructible—they can even be used to parry plasma swords. In the hands of a character who possesses the mental shield or mental deflection gimmicks, a Traru staff effectively increase the character’s awareness rating by 2 for purposes of shielding and deflecting against ranged attacks. Traru are the primary weapons of at least one Zuul faction and represent a visible reminder that the Zuul prefer to resolve conflicts peacefully. Traru sometimes turn up on the black market, but selling them is illegal.

Ranged Weapons

EDS Model 2 Speargun


Evant Defense Systems’s Model 2 speargun was designed for underwater recreational activities on planets such as Idwell and Abakal. It contains a small energy cell that propels spears from the barrel. The gun holds a clip of six spears that automatically load once a spear has been fired.
Hisshalan Sonic Blaster


The sonic blaster is a throat modulated voice box designed to turn a Hisshalan hiss into a painful ranged attack. Creatures without a sense of hearing are immune to this effect. Those who have the advanced hearing gimmick suffer an additional +1fat.
HS-1 Heavy Blaster Pistol


Zarat’s HS-1 is essentially a cut down blaster rifle that is popular with criminal elements throughout the galaxy and is illegal in some systems.
JP180 Pain Stunner


A pain stunner is a specially-designed stunner that targets a creature’s nerve endings without damaging organs or limbs. The pain stunner was developed by Joud Tamar medical scientists and its use is illegal in most civilized systems.
L’triggan Seeker Disc


Designed by the L’triggan bounty hunter caste, seeker discs are hurled weapons that combine sophisticated guidance technology with miniature anti-grav projectors. Seeker discs resemble circular saw blades. When hurled, the speed of their rotation enables them to cut through almost anything, even metal. A limited targeting computer provides the thrower with a -2DIFF to attacks. If the disc misses its target, it returns to the thrower at the end of the turn. A scanner and a routine sensors task can negate the guidance system and prevent the disc from returning to its thrower.
Pathani Tarlus


The tarlus is a combination blaster rifle and spear that is the signature weapon of the Pathani.
Piece Blaster


Also known as a “peace blaster,” the piece blaster is designed to be broken down into at least six parts for easy concealment. The parts are scanner resistant, providing a +4DIFF to scanning tasks for purposes of detection. The weapon may be reassembled in one turn with a routine firearms task. Piece blasters are illegal in some systems. Many companies manufacture piece blasters, but the most popular version is Golune Arms’s No. 4.
TC7U Hydroblaster Rifle


Treinta Consolidated’s hydroblaster was designed for the armed forces of the undersea world of Hropoa, but hydroblasters can be found on water worlds throughout the galaxy. The hydroblaster rifle fires a chemically-cohesive energy pulse that does not dissipate under water. If fired above water, however, the pulse is less effective (1/2 range and damage).
ZA-AX3 Pulse Launcher


Zarat Arms’s AX3 pulse launcher is a bulky, shoulder-fired weapon that fires a powerful pulse of concentrated energy. The launcher fires three types of rounds: Anti-personnel, anti-vehicle, and anti-starship. The launcher must be reloaded after firing each shot.

Armor

Archonian Shieldbelt


An Archonian shieldbelt creates a personal energy shield that protects its wearer from attacks. This shield is rated from 1 to 3 and protects only against ranged weapons. When an attack hits, the damage is reduced by the rating of the shieldbelt. Any remaining damage passes through to the target and is resolved normally. If the damage rating of the attack exceeds the shield’s rating, the shieldbelt rating is reduced by 1.
Benebenai Rukh’Shi Armor


Rukh’shi armor is a collapsible power suit designed using Benebenai nanite technology (see above). Until activated, rukh’shi armor resembles a chest harness with a central disc about the size of a human hand. When activated, the armor sprouts from the disk, taking one turn to envelop its wearer. Rukh’shi armor is useable only by characters who are roughly human sized. Many rukh’shi armor suits are decorated with animals and creatures native to ancient Benebenai culture.
Nahu~Dochal Technologies DNE84 Personal Shield


The Nahu~Dochal model DNE84 personal shield creates a form-fitting, angular energy field that protects its wearer from attacks. The shield was designed primarily to counter ranged attacks (protection 5) and is less effective against melee weapons (protection 2). Today, Nahu~Dochal shields are used primarily by nobility for honor duels. The shield remains active for 10 turns before its charge is depleted.
