Signature Weapons
An optional rule for Foreign Element

If you would like there to be some permanence to equipment in the course of the game and want to add a little more flavor, allow heroes to claim one signature weapon. Maybe this is their grandfather’s supersized laser blaster. It might be an ancient hand-to-hand laser blade. It could be a custom designed stealth crossbow. If the players describe their hero using it in combat or any action, they gain a bonus die to the action. The signature weapon essentially acts as a Mark, except it is not tied to any one trait. For actions other than combat, be sure it makes sense. A signature weapon certainly could be used to enhance negotiations with a renegade colonist, for instance. It might even be useful when trying to open a locked door. On the other hand, it probably won’t be helpful hacking a state of the art mainframe.
