Guide to Story Engine/Maelstrom Storytelling Products
Maelstrom Storytelling was first released in 1996 by Hubris Games. The rules were redesigned and released as a universal system in 1999. Precis Intermedia acquired the rights to Maelstrom Storytelling and Story Engine in 2006. The following list describes each product as it was originally published, along with its associated reprint (if available).
Maelstrom Storytelling
Maelstrom is a science-fantasy world of supernatural powers and ancient civilizations. The Maelstrom is an entire world, and it's also a great storm so strong it changes the shape of the world as it passes. Adventures in the Maelstrom can be about almost anything, from swashbuckling and treasure hunting to travel and exploration. There are powerful mages and ancient ghosts, courts full of intrigue and ruins of a lost empire. The rules provide fast, fluid scene resolution. Action is resolved as a whole scene, based on the character goals -- there are no "combat rounds" or charts.

Sidenotes
Like most beings in the Maelstrom World, the Venthi were uprooted to there from another age and place. They went from being citizens of a highly-cultured empire to strangers in a new world. They were thought to have built the earliest ruins in the Maelstrom, but are now slaves and beggars in tattered clothing. Go back to when the Venthi were a force with which to be reckoned -- the Venthi Imperium goes to war with the Terran Commonwealth in Warcosm.
