Man, Myth & Magic

There is a thread at theRPGSite about the use of gods in games. I'd rather keep them out of the game as a measurable force, but if I had to introduce them, I would definitely take the Hercules/Xena approach as I stated in that thread. The only things that would separate them from mortals is their magic and toughness. They can do things that appear as magic and survive just about any challenge, perhaps even being immortal. That said, their brains would be no different from mortals, capable of greed, selflessness, morals, vices, etc -- only having access to more information. They would be gods in name only, some form of higher species like Olympians rather than true cosmic forces. And they would use their followers to do their bidding, yet be capable of being outsmarted by wily mortals. Anything more powerful would have to be relegated to myth and legend, the focus of the faithful and fearful.
