Here's another horror for Ghostories, courtesy of Sheryl Nantus.

Garbage Man

"Keep tossing!" The thick, heavy-set man wiped his brow with a filthy rag, stuffing it into a pocket as his companion emptied another garbage can over the railing. "They must think I'm nuts if they figure I'm going to pay someone to take my trash away…"

The Garbage Man is a rotting heap of trash and garbage brought to life by a forest spirit in an effort to protect once-pristine areas from being used and abused by nearby inhabitants. Compiled of decomposing food, discarded plastic bottles, and old shoes and socks, it seeks those who toss their garbage into the forest, killing them without mercy.

There is no recorded way to defeat the Garbage Man, because it is composed of so many different items, each offering not only a way to attack victims but also a vulnerability that can be exploited. Fire can work on some areas of the six-foot-high beast, but can also cause an explosion if it comes in contact with flammable contents inside the Garbage Man's body. Bullets have no effect, but could possibly trigger an explosion if they hit aerosol cans. A knife or an axe takes off an arm or leg temporarily until the Garbage Man can grow it back, giving the victims a chance to escape.

The only real escape is to not only leave the area permanently, but also to destroy the dwelling in which the victims lived, returning it to as much of a pristine a state as possible. With the Garbage Man only attacking at night, this offers offenders a possible solution to the problem, if not a likable one.
