ipods and ebayFeb 15, 2009 | 3:35 am
I'm looking around for a cheap ipod shuffle on ebay. Stop. Illegal Chinese knock-offs pop up. Move on. People are selling brand new ones for more than I can get one from Apple. They are selling used ones for more than I can a refurbished one from Apple. Keep looking. Am I reading this wrong? No, they are the 1GB models. Found something. Outbid. Let's see how much it sold for. Someone is actually willing to pay just about the same as a refurbished one from Apple for a used one. It's crazy. If I wanted to spend $39 or $49 delivered, I'd go to Apple. But, I just want it to listen to some podcasts while I relax - I can do that with my Palm TX, but it only transfers files from iTunes, so I need to add them to the playlist manually, which is a pain if I'm just going to erase them. It won't see much use, so I'm only willing to go as high as $25. I just don't get it.

Not only that; Get this:

I was at an auto dealer looking for a 'beat em up' pickup for the farm. While there, they had a drawing and I "won" an iPod shuffle. I thought "COOL!" They gave me a brochure thingy that had a card I had to send in to get it. Now the funny part:

I had to PAY $39.95 for shipping and Handling and WAIT 3-5 weeks...

Needless to say I didn't send the card in. I told the dealer that they were rip-off cons and that they would NEVER get my business.

Update: I got one for $20.48 delivered. I had an 8% discount coupon from ebay, so I saved about $1.50 ;)
