Two-Fisted Tales

There's always something in the wayMar 18, 2009 | 10:44 pm
I bought a Panasonic DVD Recorder a while back on ebay (I buy lots of good stuff on ebay). It uses DVD-RAM disks for excellent digital wide-screen recording AND has a VHS recorder. It's been giving me problems for a while with various error codes and taking forever to turn on -- I tend to think this is a general defect to the line rather than a breakdown. I try to buy extended warranties through Square Trade, because they can be worth it, depending on the discount you get on them. I did so for this. I finally had enough and put in a claim. Now I get to send it back, postage paid, and receive a full refund on it.

What I wanted to get to replace it is a Philips DVD/DVR with a 160GB hard drive. I have one downstairs and it is awesome. The DVD functions are kind of weak, but the DVR is the best for recording programs on a regular basis. I can't find them at a reasonable price anymore. It is so annoying.

If necessary, I also have an old Magnavox DVD recorder. It doesn't do wide-screen recording, have a digital tuner, or HDMI interface, but combined with a digital converter box, it is a real workhorse.

So keep your eyes open for a cheap Philips DVDR3575H or DVDR3576H for me ;)
