Adobe applications, particularly Acrobat, are not what they once were. I've been trying to update New World Disorder by simply replacing the pages in the PDF to maintain bookmarks, but Acrobat keeps crashing every time I do. I had to redo the PDF from scratch. Luckily, it's not very big. I still need to proof it, but the update should be available next week -- it just fixes some typos and replaces some of the included paper miniatures. I've been doing a similar update for EarthAD.2, but I luckily did not encounter these problems (it too will probably be released next week, but it is an even more minor update).

Acrobat 4 was the best in the series. It was lightning fast and saved PDFs without error. After that, the program went downhill. Versions 5 and 6 introduced numerous font encoding issues, leaving illegible documents on some platforms and Adobe Reader versions. Versions 7 and 8 had their own problems, like speed issues. It's hard to say whether or not Version 9 is any better, considering this crashing business when consolidating duplicate fonts. I suspect this also has to do with font encoding. At least it is much faster than previous version. Well, not faster than version 4, but what is?
