HardNova 2 AliensMay 14, 2009 | 1:38 pm
Let's revisit the various species in HardNova 2, first the members of the United Sovereign Worlds (USU).

Humans: these guys are sometimes cybernetically-augmented, but are otherwise like us.

Centaurians: an offshoot of humans, many with psi powers.

Kt'Sorii: Insectoids with female-led bureaucracies and male militaries. They are crude but loyal.

Digronians: Ape-like with a female-repressed tribal society.

Migado: Fat doesn't quite explain their frames, as their size is really due to an abundance of redundant organs. Their mechanical bioframes almost become an extension of their bodies.

X-ans: Artifical, mechanical lifeforms that understand morals and cultural co-existence.

Tarkosians: Once deadly enemies to humans, centaurians, and digronians, they are now allies. They suffer from serious genetic flaws due to failed bio-experiments. They appear almost human, but with translucent hair, slender frames, and mechanically-grafted fingers.

Kinosians: They have been spared the genetic disfunction of their former oppressors and cousins, the Tarkosians.

Gillies: Small and fox-like, these beings communicate telepathically. With proper education, they can be on-par with the other species, but since older gillies were raised in primitive conditions on their homeworld, advanced education is tough on them.

Sligg: These amorphous beings have recently petitioned for admission to the USU and require devices to translate their inaudible language.

Other species:

Dashi: These humanoids have bright-white skin and shell-like plates on their faces, and are acclimated to extreme cold. They are known as betrayers and schemers, and are typically not to be trusted.

Ul-Marians: These sloth-like beings are rude and highly offensive, yet peaceful and cowardly. They are master-criminals, often specializing in embezzlement and racketeering, acting in a slow, methodical manner rather than jumping to action. They are welcome on most USU worlds, since they like to spend money and the Kt'Sorii males enjoy verbal sparring matches against them.

Sikatai: Gelatinous, luminescent skin and oddly-positioned arms, they are masters of exacting details, making negotiations with them difficult and time-consuming. They often freelance in USU space.

Tsroth: Four-legged insectoids that build bio-architectural cities, ships, and structures. They do not typically interact with the USU, except when mercenary units have business to perform.

Diryash: Thinly-shaped predators that allow vermin free reign on their ships, so that they can hunt when hungry. They function like pack animals and are becoming a threat to USU territory.

Ruthdii: There are three factions, all worm-like in appearance. Komar are ruthless conquerors, bent on defeating the USU. Solex are peaceful, but in hiding, taking necessary precautions to stay that way. The third faction is not common knowledge and even rarer to come across than the Solex.

Star Trek just got me in the mood. No time for anything new right now.
