EarthAD BattlesJun 09, 2009 | 5:53 pm
I've been working on and off to design a miniatures skirmish game for the EarthAD setting. Mutants against Pures and Scamps. That sort of thing. I'm torn though. Should it be a full game like New World Disorder, including all the gimmicks and character stocks needed to play, or should it be like Brutes, providing a quick-starting, bare bones rules-set that is expanded by add-ons? Weight in.

Hello,

First time posting! :D

I just finished reading EarthAD and visions of battle were running through my head the entire time, so I'm glad to hear you're considering a sklrmish game based on this setting.

My brother just picked up NWD, and I think we have our first game coming up this weekend. I don't know anything about Brutes (yet!), but "bare bones" doesn't seem to fit the right mood of EarthAD, to me anyway. A battle wouldn't be the same without all the cool gimmicks available to the different character types. Plus, it would be really cool if it was compatible with NWD. ZOMBIE SCAMPS! WOO-HOO!!!!

Just my .02

Welcome and thanks for posting. Brutes is actually a scaled down version of NWD for fantasy, so it is compatible. A similar venture for EarthAD would be limited, but still utilize gimmicks, though it only include pre-generated characters. Custom characters would be a separate add-on. So, yeah, a full game would be quite large. I imagine it would be similar to NWD + CyberZone + the upcoming Alienate supplement.

Ah... Once again I would have gained some benefit from a quick search and some information. I really need to look at stuff before posting hehe :) Looking at Brutes, I REALLY like how all of the information you need is right on the Paper Miniature! While NWD doesn't seem overly complicated by any means, I do like quick pick-up and play type games.

I guess my vote would be Brutes style, with add-on's for mutations, infections, etc.

BRUTES! You can always do an 'advanced' version later.

After thinking about it, I think that the BRUTES plus add-ons would be better. I really do like having the stats on the back of the character for fast reference. It also cuts down on the paperwork.

PLAY rather than paperwork!
