Make your Own MinisJun 17, 2009 | 4:15 am
You'll soon be able to upload your own images to the Disposable Heroes online system. By purchasing a special custom product, you receive 10 slots. Upload an image to each slot, and it is automatically sized and formatted as a full-color customizable Disposable Heroes figure, complete with grayscale/BW and silhouette images. You can replace figures as needed, but image files can be no larger than 250K - this is plenty for a decent quality jpg-format figure. And of course, like other Disposable Heroes sets, the figures can be downloaded as a-frames, tri-frames, or flat counters -- plus, they can be downloaded as armies, labelled, sequentially numbered, and mixed with other sets.

I need a few volunteers to help test this. Contact me via this LINK if you're interested. Note: you must already have a familiarity with the online customizable system.

This looks very useful.

Any plans to add Brutes stats to the minis?

Not right now, but it's on the list. That's pretty tricky.

Brutes stats on minis? That would be AWESOME! :D In the meantime, I think I've been purchasing the wrong mini sets. I need to upgrade to customizable!

Well, I actually do use the customizable system to create both the Statix sets and the stats on the back of the minis that come with Brutes. It's just that the stats and minis are loaded via a text file that I assemble (sort of like using command line prompts). Making it user-friendly and truly accessible to individuals is problematic. I can't add extra fields for each mini, because then you wouldn't be able to do armies with different stats. Making that text file somehow assembled automatically and applied to a string of minis, whether unique ones or an army of the same is the way to go -- and this means lots of coding to make it easy to use.

Oh yeah, I forgot. If you want stats, you could always download a customizable set with blank backs and write them in.

This sounds fantastic!

Would the 10 slots be a "one-time" shot? or could you do 10, clear them and do another 10?

You can replace them as needed, but there may be some limits imposed to prevent abuse of bandwidth.
