I managed to pseudo-assemble the iTablet from the iBook I purchased. My intent is to use it to read PDFs. I removed the keyboard, trackpad, and CD-ROM. I have a cheap USB wi-fi adapter, so I can connect to my network easily. The big problem was installing the operating system without a DVD drive. I connected it to my old G4 tower (since it's PowerPC like the iBook rather than Intel) via firewire and used the hard drive in target mode (it basically works as an external hard drive). I was able to clone the G4's system as a temporary measure, but it ate up most of the 10GB on the drive. I'll need to get a DVD drive to install a fresh minimalist system. I've got some other modifications and accessories in mind (and need to seal it), so I'll update you again.

Here's a picture of the temporary rough assembly.
