Post Office Round 2Aug 18, 2009 | 12:55 pm
Apparently, I didn't receive any mail yesterday or have any pickups is because I'm on a hold list. How that happened is anyone's guess, but of course, we all know it's because either the replacement mail carrier didn't feel like delivering and picking up stuff or someone at the post office is playing games. After two years of actually trying to speak to the station manager, I finally got him on the first try. He said that there was no hold and didn't know what was going on. The carrier did deliver and pick up stuff after being hunted down on the block, and that's how I found out what happened. Morons. I supposedly got all my mail, but I'm still missing a netflix DVD that should have arrived on Saturday with the other one that shipped the same day.

The postal service is a fine and exemplary institution! I have never experienced nor heard of anything other the finest, most dutiful professionalism from their officers. They recruit none but highly qualified and educated personnel. I'm sure if you didn't receive your mail, some other party must be to blame...perhaps you did put your mail on hold inadvertently.

At least you get home/office delivery. I don't. Nobody in my town does. We have to rent a post-office box or get general delivery in order to receive mail at all. Still, there are advantages to post office boxes.

Can't complain too much about the post in the UK, things tend to arrive..eventually. postman comes late Monday afternoons, but on Saturday comes before I'm up, which is a pain when he has a parcel and has left before I've got to the door.

The usual postman signs for parcels than need to be signed for, himself, when the replacements on all the streets post gets mixed up and we end up with letters and parcels for other people.

The mail seemed to have arrives well before 9:00 today, which is unusual (it usually gets here about 11:30). And there was a lot -- all the mail that wasn't delivered since Saturday. Curious how it got here so early. It could have even been dropped off last night. Who knows.
