I've been working on the second edition of Tombstones n' Tumbleweeds for some time now and I just haven't really taken to it -- it feels kind of alien to me. After developing Treasure Awaits!, the upcoming retro-fantasy introductory RPG, I realized that I subconsciously combined GD3E with TnT. The Treasure Awaits! and TnT mechanics are actually very similar and the change is minimal. Believe it or not, the base difficulty of 7 is the same in both games, with a single die modified by the ability and skills levels. A perfect fit, right? So, I'll likely take the new route as I move closer to completing Tnt 2E. And players of 1E shouldn't worry too much about the changes, since they are mostly in the language and organization. Now that's just the basic mechanics. There are other elements to TnT 2E, like health and the specific abilities, which would remain the same, but the mechanics should feel more natural to those familiar with the genreDiversion games. |
