After watching all the Larry Sanders Show episodes I could find online (Hulu, etc.), I've now moved on to Arrested Development, which is subtle in its comedy (no laugh-track, few openly silly jokes, etc.). The casting is excellent... Jeffrey Tambor, Jason Bateman, Portia de Rossi, David Cross, and Will Arnett primarily. The narration by Ron Howard is also superb. Guest roles by Henry Winkler, Scott Baio, Liza Minelli, Carl Weathers, and Charlize Theron make the show truly surreal, especially since they all portray extremely odd characters. I wasn't expecting it, but Henry Winkler even tried to comb his hair in a bathroom mirror, only to realize that it was perfect and performed the Fonzie Shrug.

The third season got a little weak, but was still funny. Despite that, this is one of the best sitcoms ever created. I hear that a movie is in the works -- I hope so.

I can't recommend this series enough. |
