Supers Now!Apr 23, 2010 | 1:14 am
Some of you may remember Price of Power, the Supers RPG I created in 2004 in 24-hours. Feeling a little nostalgic, I cleaned it up a bit and put it in the catalog for download. It's free, so give it a shot.

It uses a different, but strangely familiar system. Traits are the primary element for task resolution. Like Treasure Awaits!, you add your trait rating to a single six-sided die. Aptitudes are basically like skills, but unrated. If appropriate, you add 3 to the roll for an aptitude. Then the split from the usual occurs. Heroes also have slants, which can be expended to roll extra dice for certain tasks. OK, not too different, since they are similar to experience. Some powers, however, provide permanent slants -- rather than expending slant points (maximum slant rating is three), permanent slants just provide the bonus dice. Penalty dice can also be applied when facing difficult situations -- they get subtracted from the roll. Differing from experience, though, slants can be used to extend tasks into sustained contests by bidding. The powers systems is actually somewhat similar to that in Bold & Brave for GD3. It's no coincidence, since I've had Price of Power in the same folder as my Bold & Brave material. All in all, lots of good stuff.

From what I have looked at in a brief read-through, it looks rather good, Brett.

Thanks. It's pretty old now.
