I watched two post-apocalypse movies lately, The Book of Eli and The Road. Big differences between the two. One has pretty good action scenes and the other doesn't. One gets you interested in the rest of the world (the setting), while the other doesn't. Guess which is which. Let's just say that I couldn't finish the mind-numbing boredom that is The Road. The only reason I wanted to watch it was because Viggo Mortenson was in it. If you don't know who he is, see The Prophecy or A History of Violence -- or even Appaloosa.

Of course, either movie would work really well with EarthAD 2. I was pretty much thinking that the whole time. :)

I was gobbling up post apocalypse media while writing Stormrift and these were high on my list for setting the tone.

The Road was apparently based on a book. As a father, it held my attention because I wanted to see how it turned out with the kid. Unfortunately, the ending was a disappointment that pretty much invalidated everything his father tried to teach him about survival.

Book of Eli was a fun movie that was more conducive to an RPG than The Road. I could see using EAD2 for this but not for The Road which was more disturbing and psychological than action packed.

Still, if you want inspiration for a PA game, especially one set in the real world with no scifi or supernatural elements to speak of, both of these movies were worth watching.

Oh and Brett, you might also recognize VM from that little fantasy trilogy that guy did awhile back. :-)

I don't talk about that. It makes me cringe.

lol, indeed. Interestingly, he's gotten to play both Jesus and Lucifer. My fav of his is History of Violence though.
