If you're looking for something new to watch, check out Ellery Queen. This short-lived TV series from the 70s is pure quality. It seems to have just been released on DVD. It is well written, but the mysteries may not be for everyone. Their giveaways are sometimes too convenient, but this makes it easier for the viewer to deduce the culprit. The main character, Ellery Queen, is forgetful when it comes to everything but solving mysteries. His father, a police inspector, calls him in to solve the tough cases.
This series is based on the original Ellery Queen novels, stories, and magazine. These range from the 20s to 70s. Note that there was also a TV series in the 50s. I urge you to at least check out the TV series if you like mysteries.
