Solo Wargamer's Guide...May 07, 2013 | 12:02 am
Coming soon is the Solo Wargamer's Guide. I hope to have it done by next week. This is a great book that details how to wargame by yourself without everything being predictable. Written by William Silvester, this book will be available in both PDF and pocket softcover formats.

What does this offer to someone who has the Featherstone and Asquith books, and a shelf full of solitaire wargames, solitaire miniatures rules and general nerdery on the subject?

I'm only asking because I'm impatient and want to know more about it, I'll be buying it on release anyway. :)

To be honest, I'm not familiar with those books. It offers lots of ways to randomize battle plans and situations.

The Featherstone book is a classic! Asquith's... less so. Still, a big part of solo wargaming is voraciously reading everything other people write about how they do it, ripping out any ideas that sound good and duct-taping them into a very personalised monstrosity of rules and concepts.

I have a fountain pen with its own special colour of ink dedicated to noting down solo gaming ideas in the margins of my gaming notes.

Hopefully, you'll get some new ideas.
