Some of you may remember that I was working on a dungeon mapping app a while back. Like lots of experiments, it became more work than was practical and I had difficulties with certain parts. I've gone a different route since then. I am currently developing a system much like the automated Disposable Heroes service. The concept is that you would purchase tile sets just like Disposable Heroes sets and they would give you access to the web interface. Through this, you place tiles on the 8x11 grid. Each tile can be rotated (or a solid color can fill a tile). You can then download the map to PDF, or save it for later editing or download. The results have been terrific. It's all about the tile sets, so this could be used for dungeons, ship corridors, vaults, etc. -- whatever the tiles support. The nicest thing about this is that it is simple to use.

I am still working on a base set of tiles. When that is complete, I will post some sample images.

One of the main delays for the Warcosm Assault stand-alone game has been map tiles. So expect a sci-fi ship corridor tile set if at all possible :) |
