What's a Fettle?Nov 26, 2013 | 5:13 pm
genreDiversion games use different types of health, but for some games, this term may not sound accurate. Tombstones n' Tumbleweeds 2E, still in development, is one such game. This can double as both a miniatures and roleplaying game. It is similar to the Treasure Awaits! rules, using a single D6 for most rolls. Rather focusing on a single type of health (such as Treasure Awaits' injury), TnT2E uses fettles. There are actually three fettles, each matched with a resistance (so fettle is the same as health, while resistance is protection/armor).

1. Gumption determines how many actions a character can perform each turn (specifically, how much gumption can be expended to perform actions). Grit resists the character's encumbrance to limit gumption.

2. Composure measures the character's current confidence and morale, keeping the character from running away or cowering in fear. Guts resists intimidation and fear.

3. Health measures the character's current physical condition, keeping him on his feet. Brawn resists injury.
