I watched 2001: A Space Odyssey again, as I haven't seen it in a while. What a poorly-directed movie. Excellent cinematography and sets, but Stanley Kubrick stretched scenes out far too long, much like was done with Star Trek: The Motion Picture. Plus, he changed facts from the book, like names.

Next up is 2010: The Year We Make Contact. I really liked this movie. I hope it still holds up.

I never could make it through that movie, but also grratly enjoyed the book.

I couldn't agree more about that first Star Trek movie. Seeing it in the theater as a kid really shut down my budding interest in Star Trek. We just started watching the Directot's Edition and are actually enjoying it.

I miss Arthur C. Clarke. I loved his Mysterious Universe program from the 90s. Regarding Star Trek, Wrath of Khan was awesome as a kid.
