Pulling off Magic in Bloodshadows 3ESep 19, 2016 | 4:43 pm
I've had a few questions asking me about magic in Bloodshadows 3E, specifically the difference between the casting pursuits and theory pursuits. If you want to cast a spell, you need a casting pursuit. To determine the ability used to cast the spell, reference the associated theory pursuit. Copying a spell requires the theory pursuit. Designing a new spell requires both the casting and theory pursuits.

So, to cast the Winds of the Dead spell, you would make a creativity-based necromancy task. If you want to copy that spell into your grimoire from another grimoire, you would make a reasoning-based conjuration task.

And to create a new spell based on the necromancy school and conjuration theory, you would make a reasoning-based conjuration task until it has been finalized (then it's a regular necromancy task).
