Ruthdii Komar Servitor: Lissar Sha'hi
A slave race of the Ruthdii Komar
Contributor: Precis Intermedia *Created: Apr 22, 2007Modified: Jan 14, 2019System: HardNova ][

The Ruthdii Komar have conquered and enslaved three sentient races: the Moornock , Lissar Sha’hi , and Prol Odona . Thus far, none of these races have been encountered by the USU. This is because the Ruthdii consider flight, especially space flight, to be an honor that only they deserve. These races may normally be encountered only in Ruthdii space or as part of a Ruthdii invasion force (as noted in their descriptions).
The Lissar Sha’hi are a race of sentient mollusks with moist, rubbery skin and dozens of tentacles that are used to propel themselves gracefully along the ground. Males and females enjoy equal roles in their society, and differ in appearance only by their shape of their heads—males have long, oblong heads, while females’ heads are more stunted. Both genders possess a central eye and a mouth full of razor sharp teeth. Lissar Sha’hi have soft bodies with no internal skeletons, enabling them to squeeze between spaces as small as 20cm wide. They prefer hot, moist climates, suffering pain and fatigue from prolonged exposure to arid conditions. They are extremely intelligent and natural linguists who can learn to speak a new language in a very short time. Lissar Sh’hi do not wear clothes, but may wear harnesses or bandoliers to denote rank or carry items and weapons. Society
The Lissar Sha’hi live in small communities called pods that are governed by the planetary Slamorn Council. The council is entirely under the command of the Ruthdii Komar. Council members are normally appointed by their pods, but the Ruthdii often assign those who please them and dismiss those who do not. The council is full of backstabbing and intrigue, with its members constantly seeking to elevate their status and the status of their representative pods. The Lissar Sha’hi were the second race to be conquered by the Ruthdii Komar. They were a peaceful people who knew little of war or deception before the occupation. They have since become master plotters and tacticians. The Lissar serve the Ruthdii out of fear. Most seek to improve their standing by pleasing their masters, but there are some who hate the Ruthdii and wish to see them overthrown. These Lissar Sha’hi, known as the Brak’sis, are too few and scattered to provide any organized resistance. Many Lissar Sha’hi have been drafted into the Ruthdii Armada where they serve as officers in charge of Moornock troops and police garrisons. Some oversee mundane operations of Ruthdii bases on occupied worlds, and a few even act as silent advisors to their Ruthdii Komar overlords. The Lissar Sha’hi have adopted many Ruthdii prejudices towards those they consider to be beneath them (which includes basically everyone except the Ruthdii). Lissar Sha’hi overseers are deployed with Moornock troops during invasions, often riding Moornock steeds. They use their tentacles to move quickly along the backs of clustered Moornocks, enabling them to command and control large hordes. Lissar Sha’hi culture was once rich in art and history. The Ruthdii Komar have suppressed this useless knowledge, but remnants of the past can still be found in ruins scattered across the planet’s surface or hidden by the secretive Brak’sis. The Ruthdii instantly liquidate those in possession of such contraband. The Homeworld
Planet Iruus is a swamp world with a moist, rich atmosphere and abundant wildlife. Lissar Sha’hi pods dwell inside stands of giant, hollowed-out rabtras (which resemble Terran cypress trees). Rabtra trunks are hollowed out over time by a species of wood-eating insect, creating a twisting warren of passages, chambers, and entrances. These complexes begin at the root system and sometimes extend the full length of the sixty-meter-tall trees. The Ruthdii Komar have established several prefabricated bases along the planet’s surface. The moist, hot climate makes Iruus a favorable posting and the planet is treated as something of a resort by more prominent Ruthdii Komar. Lissar Sha’hi Characters

A Lissar Sha’hi overseer was captured during the failed Ruthdii Komar invasion of Teltar VII. The characters are Rangers sent to interrogate the alien, but before they arrive, it escapes from custody and manages to stow itself aboard a starship owned by New Galactic Order cultists. The cultists have refused to allow the Rangers on their vessel, citing religious immunity. The characters must not only sneak aboard the ship, but also deal with the cultists who wish to grant the Lissar Sha’hi asylum. The Lissar Sha’hi sends a comm message to its Ruthdii Komar masters as soon as the opportunity presents itself, providing an added complication. First Contact
A Lissar Brak’sis named I’Juso has stolen a short-range shuttle and left Ruthdii Komar space. The shuttle’s life-support systems are beginning to fail, and the computer has triggered an automatic distress beacon. The characters respond to the beacon and meet their first Lissar. Unfortunately, the beacon has also alerted a nearby Ruthdii Komar warship, so the characters must act quickly if they want to save the Lissar and escape with their lives. Cowardly Saboteurs
The characters are Lissar Sha’hi overseers in charge of the Prol Odona mining colony of GK-174. After a few industrial mishaps cause production to fall way behind schedule, the characters begin to suspect sabotage. Are aliens to blame, or are the timid Prol Odona finally beginning to rebel? Perhaps a rival Lissar pod is attempting to discredit the characters. Written by Peter C. Spahn
