Ruthdii Komar Servitor: Prol Odona
A slave race of the Ruthdii Komar
Contributor: Precis Intermedia *Created: May 17, 2007Modified: Jan 14, 2019System: HardNova ][

The Ruthdii Komar have conquered and enslaved three sentient races: the Moornock , Lissar Sha’hi , and Prol Odona . Thus far, none of these races have been encountered by the USU. This is because the Ruthdii consider flight, especially space flight, to be an honor that only they deserve. These races may normally be encountered only in Ruthdii space or as part of a Ruthdii invasion force (as noted in their descriptions).
The Prol Odona (or Prol for short) are humanoids native to the planet Prolat. Harsh living conditions on Prolat have given them strong builds and below-average appearance, but they are practically human in physiology. Prol workers dress in functional gray coveralls and boots. Prol officials wear gray pullover shirts with black collars and matching pants. Prol women wear knee-length dresses and comfortable shoes. The Prol Odona are not allowed to own or carry weapons. Society
The Prol Odona were once a free-spirited race of explorers and adventurers whose government had loose ties to the Darhren Empire. The Ruthdii conquered and enslaved their planet in less than a week, subjugating the people and reorganizing their society into a giant industrial machine. Prol Authority is the Ruthdii puppet regime that governs the Prol Odona. The Authority is run by a board of directors who are responsible for managing different aspects of the planet-wide manufacturing operation. The Prol Authority works around the clock, churning out spaceships, assault vehicles, weapons, and other war materials for the Ruthdii Armada. Every Prol works for the company in one capacity or another. The Ruthdii tattoo each Prol with markings that identify job specialty, living quarters, and current work assignment. Prol men and women are kept separate. The men work in the factories, but the women work in nurseries and/or government brothels that are used to reward male workers who exceed their quotas. Lissar Sha’hi and Moornock police garrisons provide workers with additional incentive to excel. The Prol Odona are a sullen people, resigned to their dismal fate. Even board members of the Prol Authority take little comfort in their elevated positions. This bleak outlook on life has been beaten into them after almost a century of slavery. The Prol Odona were never warlike and cannot conceive of overcoming beings as powerful and strong as the Ruthdii Komar. If someone were to show them it was possible, however, their attitudes might change. The Homeworld
Planet Prolat was once a lush and beautiful terrestrial world. No longer. Thousands of factories and research facilities built after the Ruthdii occupation have since polluted its atmosphere to the point where the people must rely on daily shipments of protein bars to survive. This dependence on the Ruthdii is another major factor contributing to Prol compliance. Dozens of Authority shipyards orbit Prolat, and the Ruthdii have established a number of bases on the planet and throughout the system to protect their interests. Prolat’s liberation would be a crippling blow to the Ruthdii Armada.

The characters are Rangers who are called to investigate strange activity beyond the Living Frontier and even Rigel. Upon investigation, they find the humanoid Prol Odona toiling away in what appears to be a typical unlicensed mining operation. Then they also spot the Ruthdii vessel patrolling the system. The characters might come to the conclusion that the miners are about to be attacked, or they might think that the Prol are USU citizens that have been enslaved by the Ruthdii. Know Thy Enemy
The characters meet an alien explorer who mistakes them for the Prol Odona. The alien immediately goes on the defensive, expecting a Ruthdii attack at any moment. If the characters make contact with the alien, he claims that his people were slaughtered by the Ruthdii over a decade ago. The characters can learn a lot about the Ruthdii Komar’s infrastructure from the alien, but he does not part with this information cheaply. Stirrings of Rebellion
The characters are Prol workers who are given an alien vessel to dismantle and analyze for weaknesses. During the procedure, the characters uncover a hidden stasis chamber containing a dozen sleeping aliens. Standing orders are to notify the Lissar overseer in case of anything unusual, but the characters have never before seen aliens like these. They look almost like Prol except for their strange USU uniforms... Written by Peter C. Spahn
