I just finished up the new Story Bones Plus Edition after discussing it with the original creator, Chris Aldridge. This is the introductory version of Story Engine Plus. It will be available as a free download and a low-cost printed booklet in the next week or so.
Story Bones is made up of the essentials of Story Engine, but keeps the action simpler and faster. Conflicts are resolved as entire scenes rather than turns. Story Engine was the first game to focus on scenes in this manner, making it one of the first true story-games. Mix this form of narrative play with adjective-based characters and group die pools, and you get a true story-based, collaborative roleplaying game like no other. |
